Who We Are
Roots & Threads Exports is a Delhi-based export company specialising exclusively in kids Indian ethnic wear. We supply premium cotton and cotton-blend traditional garments — Jodhpuri sets, Indo Western sets, gagra choli, sharara, salwar suits, and anarkali sets — for children aged 1 to 14 years, to retail and wholesale partners in the USA, UK, UAE, and Australia.
We are not a general garment exporter with a kids section as an afterthought. Kids ethnic wear is everything we do — every supplier relationship, every fabric standard, every size specification is built around what Indian diaspora parents actually want for their children at Diwali, Eid, Gurpurab, Navratri, weddings, and cultural events.
Why We Started
The Indian diaspora globally numbers over 35 million people. In the USA alone there are 5.4 million Indians — a community that celebrates every major festival with the same cultural investment as families in India. Yet the kids ethnic wear available to them is overwhelmingly poor quality — synthetic fabrics that scratch, sizing that runs 2–3 sizes small, and delivery that arrives after the festival is over.
We started Roots & Threads to fix that. Quality cotton fabric, accurate sizing in inches, US-stocked inventory, and a supply chain built specifically to meet festival season deadlines. Our product is what Indian-American, British Indian, and UAE-based Indian parents have been looking for.
Our Fabric Standard
The single most important thing we do is get the fabric right. Our in-house textile expert personally curates every fabric from Delhi’s leading textile hubs before a single garment is cut. Our standard is non-negotiable — 100% cotton or cotton-blend only. Correct GSM for each garment category. A soft, breathable finish that children can wear comfortably against their skin for hours. Colour fastness verified by wash test before we commit to bulk production.
No synthetic tapeta. No polyester blend. No shiny fabric that photographs well and feels terrible. This standard is what our retail partners lead with when selling to their customers — and it is what drives repeat orders season after season.
Our Founder
Gurmaan Singh Sihota
Roots & Threads Exports was founded by Gurmaan Singh Sihota, based in New Delhi. With a background in B2B sales and a deep understanding of the Indian diaspora market, Gurmaan built Roots & Threads to bridge the gap between India's extraordinary textile heritage and the underserved kids ethnic wear market globally.
Every sourcing trip, every supplier negotiation, every quality check, and every export shipment is personally managed to ensure the standard your customers expect is met without exception.
Our Commitment
We understand that when a boutique owner in Leicester or a home-based seller in Dubai places an order with us, their reputation with their own customers depends on what arrives. We take that seriously. We commit to honest communication at every stage — if there is a production delay we tell you immediately. If a design is not available in your required colour we tell you before you order, not after. If a piece fails QC we replace it before it ships. We would rather lose a short-term order than a long-term relationship.
